Courtney--
Just wanted to let you know that I thought the trike-a-thon was a really great idea. As we discussed, it is a great way to emphasize bike safety and a great excuse to get the kids outside and moving in a new and different way; but most importantly, I think it's a really smart way to introduce the idea of service to little ones. I really don't think they are too little to grasp the idea, and I saw that in our child when we talked about fundraising and giving to others. A sense of service and community is something that attracts me to schools. I don't think, however, that many people expect to find that quality in a daycare.
I've got to say that I love telling our friends and family about what our child does at "school." I think people are surprised to hear that such a personal and quality and diverse experience is to be had at a larger daycare. Friends who saw this event on my page on Facebook thought it was just awesome. I think it's this kind of activity--and the music teacher, and the field trips, and the art projects--that show people just how good a daycare experience can be.
